Do you want to buy a property in Mumbai? Check out these 10 upcoming trends

Mumbai has seen some significant real estate development in the past few years and it’s expected to see even more development in the next few years. Check out these 10 upcoming trends that you should watch out for in Mumbai 2022!

1) We’re opting for houses, but not those with large bedrooms

Buying property with bedrooms seems to be very common. This is actually a huge mistake, since people are moving from big houses with lots of land onto small apartments where it’s easier to care for them and maintain them. We believe that people will start buying smaller houses but keeping their bedrooms as comfortable as possible. The trend was started by many cities who have been encouraging people to move into smaller spaces because it means less work for contractors and property owners, which leads us down another point...

2) The ultimate kitchen

Kitchens are one of our favorite rooms in which to invest—and for good reason. A kitchen is usually one of the largest rooms in your home, meaning you can go big with everything from appliances and cabinets to countertops and flooring. This is also an area where smart decorating choices can really save you money down the road: quality materials and appliances that won’t break down over time (or soon after) will save hundreds or even thousands of dollars on repairs and replacement costs compared with low-quality alternatives. From gas stoves that heat evenly and quickly, to sleek black refrigerators that never stain or rust, there are tons of trends worth considering right now as well.

3) The perfect balcony

If you live in an apartment or rented property, then there’s likely plenty of small space for living, cooking and entertaining—and that’s before even thinking about entertaining guests. A great way to solve both problems is by buying a folding outdoor table and chairs. They can be placed on your balcony (or other outdoor space) without intruding on your indoor living area, but they fold up neatly when not in use. Best of all, they are highly portable: just stash them inside during winter when it gets too cold outside! You can also invest in some lanterns or fairy lights as evening approaches—these are essential if having romantic meals at home is important to you.

4) Spacious parking

Spacious parking is one of those necessities that we take for granted, but if you’re looking to invest in an apartment or house and have a family, it can be worth choosing space over style. Parking spaces are getting smaller and harder to find as more people move into densely-populated areas. But if you live near public transport options and make sure that your car has enough space for friends, shopping bags and storage boxes, your car will be less likely to get damaged by objects parked nearby. It’s also a good idea to look into parking lots nearby or consider investing in underground parking.

5) A dream property has plenty of storage space

Like many others, most home buyers would say that one of their biggest concerns is storage space. While most of us invest so much in buying furniture and other stuff that we barely get to use all our available spaces. Thus, it’s a good idea to make sure that your future home has plenty of space for you and your family. In fact, some experts suggest working on what they call systematic uncluttering; so if you’re planning on buying something new, first find a place for what’s already there. That way, even if things don’t work out with your new purchase—and they often don't!—you haven't made things worse by adding more items into an already-full closet or spare room.

6) A house with a view

Amongst other factors, location is paramount when buying a home. But before you settle on an area, consider what will be happening in that neighborhood five years from now—you might not like what you see. For example, if new buildings are constantly coming up around your house or there’s been talk of expanding an expressway nearby, it could become too noisy and crowded over time. On top of noise pollution and high levels of crime, studies have found close proximity to major infrastructure can reduce home values by as much as 30 percent! It’s smart to do some research before picking a neighborhood—the perfect place for one person may not work for another.

7) What we want on our walls and floors

Part of creating your dream home is envisioning it, which is why choosing what’s on your walls and floors is arguably more important than selecting paint and tile. These materials are often highlighted within any room, so if it doesn’t turn you on, imagine how your future guests will feel. Be sure to think about these textures and patterns for everything from cabinets and ceilings to flooring. In terms of colors, stick with neutrals that are easy to mix and match with other hues. If you have an eye for color, use color as an accent or focal point instead.

8) Who we live with matters, so finding a good builder is crucial

Just like your neighbors can greatly influence how well you live, so too can they affect your financial growth. Be sure to check with other home buyers in your area and ask if they are satisfied with their builder’s services. In addition, do a quick online search of your builder—and any others who may be near by—to get a feel for how they do business. If there is not much information available about them, or what’s written is questionable or critical, proceed with caution! You’ll want someone who will help guide and support you through what can be an overwhelming process. Make sure that whomever you choose works with local architects and designers, as it will also make for smooth coordination when picking finishes and fixtures for your space.

9) Is your neighborhood safe?

Given that most people are likely to spend at least half their life at home, it is important that your neighborhood should be safe and friendly. When buying a property, check whether there have been any crimes reported over the last few months and take extra care if there have been multiple incidences of theft or violence. Some neighborhoods may seem quiet when you first move in but lack of awareness about crime leads to problems later on. Therefore, before finalizing your home purchase make sure your neighborhood is conducive for living comfortably. Safety has become an important factor while choosing one’s residence or workplace and one needs not only physical security but social security as well. Make sure there are enough surveillance systems and proper policing by authorities.

10) Keeping an eye on the maintenance costs

If you are planning on renting out your property, remember that you will also have some extra expenses. You will need to pay for electricity, water, cable and any other utilities or taxes related to your area. These costs vary widely from one location to another and from one type of rental situation to another; so take an honest look at what your expected costs are likely going to be in order for it not to break your budget. It is far better for you as a landlord to be well aware of what these numbers are so that when you rent out your house or apartment, either long-term or short-term, there aren’t any unexpected surprises or unpleasant changes down the road that could hurt profit margins.
